This cult Avanti has appeared in the Beaver State after spending many years in the dark.
Equipped with classic features of muscle car past, the 1987 auto is begging for a second shot at life.
But, after almost a decade without running, it may need more than a can of WD-40 to reach prime position.
It turns out that the Avanti carries a load of history under its hood.

This Avanti classic is the ultimate project car
For car fans who are looking out for the ultimate fixer-upper, Craigslist may have just provided you with the ultimate jackpot.
A 1987 Avanti project car has appeared almost four decades after its initial release, but as you’d expect, it looks a little worse for wear.
With 80,000 miles on the clock, the listing gives potential buyers some vital info.

The seller even noted that there are ‘not many of these cars around’ and described it as being able to ‘run really pretty good as is’.
When it comes to powering the car forward, a small block Chevy V8 AN 700 R4 Trans, four-speed auto engine is responsible, but some other work needs to be done in other areas before it can run safely.
The seller explained that the Avanti hadn’t hit the road since 2016, and as a result, the car is in need of a ‘full tune-up’ alongside the fuel tank being cleaned out.
This is a job that will need to take priority for the car’s new owner when they receive the keys.

The owner says that they may consider a trade-in, as long as the car in question stems from a model year of 1965 or older.
So, for classic car fans, this could be good news.
The eight-cylinder coupe has an asking price of $4,300 in Prineville, Oregon.
The history of the Avanti
The Avanti brand saw lots of change throughout its reign from the early 1960s, all the way through to the 21st century.

Studebaker Avanti ended production in 1963, handing the firm over to dealers Nate and Arnold Altman and Leo Newman.
This enabled the creation of more vehicles under the Avanti Motor Co name, including the 1987 model.
After the takeover, the cars used Chevrolet parts which meant more power.
Only 200 of this model were reportedly made, which makes this car extra special.
