Reddit users have debated which car is the symbol of America, and there is a very clear winner emerging.
The Reddit thread has promoted an intensive amount of debate between users, even though the original post is a few years old now.
The opening post asked users what car it is they see that just screams ‘Murica’ at them, and there were some interesting choices.
Everything from Ford pickup trucks to Dodge sports cars was mentioned; however, as you scroll through the list, there is one clear winner.

Working out which car is the most American wasn’t easy, as the Reddit thread is full of various suggestions.
Of course, this is the internet, so nobody can agree with anyone else.
The Chevrolet Corvette sprang up more than once.
It is, after all, a sports car icon, with its history stretching right back to the 1950s.
The Dodge Viper got a mention as well.
A Reddit user described its long nose and rounded roof as resembling an American WWII fighter aircraft.

Plus, with big V10 power under the hood, it’s easy to see why so many people adore it.
The Ford Mustang also had a shoutout, as it is what many see as the defining American muscle car.
But there was one clear winner throughout the whole post, and that was the Ford F-150.
The Ford F-150 has firmly ingrained itself into American culture and is the pickup truck equivalent of the Mustang.
For decades, it’s also been the highest-selling vehicle in North America.
It has been comfortably clear of its main rivals like the Chevrolet Silverado.
Helping the F-150’s cause is how pickup trucks, like the Ford F-250, are also a big part of the American lifestyle.
For many, they are seen as the vehicles of the people.
Multiple people suggested the F-150 and the top two posts with the most upvotes were two suggesting the Ford pickup truck.

Nine years on from this Reddit thread, the F-150 is still going strong and is even fully electric thanks to the recent F-150 Lightning EV.
Ford’s pickup truck has become an icon, showing itself to be reliable, dependable, and perfectly sums up America.
The question is, do you agree that the Ford F-150 is the symbol of America, or is it something else?
