If you think you’ve seen everything when it comes to luxury cars in China, wait until you spot a Ferrari F430 hanging upside down from a restaurant ceiling.
Yes, in a place where people sit down for dinner and drinks, there’s somehow a luxury car on the ceiling.
The restaurant quickly went viral after a photo was posted to Reddit, with a simple verdict: ‘best restaurant ever’.
And as it turns out, cars being used as decoration in restaurants may not be as rare as you may think.

The Ferrari F430 isn’t the only car on the premises
The Ferrari F430 drew plenty of attention on Reddit, where diners were amused at the establishment’s choice of decor.
One cheeky commenter even said he thought the restaurant was in Australia, poking fun at the car’s orientation.
However, as it turns out, the Ferrari isn’t simply a static display.
Instead, it functions as a clock installation.

According to diners and online reviews, the Ferrari F430 rotates slowly and even chimes every 15 minutes, turning the passage of time into a performance.
It’s simply one of those ideas that sounds ridiculous, and is even more absurd when you see it.
Online photos suggest that the Ferrari F430 isn’t the only vehicle used to decorate the establishment.

The venue behind the spectacle is widely known as the 1886 German Car Restaurant, sometimes translated as the 1886 German Automobile Restaurant.
One of its most talked-about locations is the Bund 13 branch, commonly linked to 11 Hankou Road in Shanghai’s Huangpu District, right near the historic Bund.
The restaurant leans heavily into nightlife energy, pairing German-inspired food, beer, and live music with over-the-top automotive theming.
Reviews indicate that the walls are covered in mechanical parts, workshop-style details, and custom touches that go far beyond framed posters.
Some accounts even mention piston-shaped lights and tool-inspired furniture.
Luxury cars are the best way to liven up a place
The spectacle also speaks to the broader fascination with luxury cars in China.
Over the past two decades, high-end automotive brands have become powerful symbols of success, individuality, and modern lifestyle in major cities like Shanghai.
In fact, Mercedes-Benz recently did a collaboration with McDonald’s in China, showing how cars in the country are as much cultural statements as transportation.

Here’s the most interesting thing: the Reddit thread invited gearheads to share their own experiences with restaurants that hang exotic cars up as decoration.
A sports bar in Tallin, Estonia, has Mika Häkkinens’ championship winning McLaren-Mercedes MP4/13 hanging on the wall, while a Ferrari F2003-GA finds its home in a café in Melbourne, Australia.
The next time you walk into your favorite restaurant and you don’t see a luxury car anywhere, maybe it’s time to make a complaint.
