They thought they were filming a cool delivery day. Turns out, they were documenting a moment of pure supercar history – picking up a brand-new McLaren F1.

Back in the ’90s, a businessman and his wife brought the camera along to capture the moment they laid eyes on their new wheels.

Today, that footage is internet gold.

And the car? Worth millions upon millions.

He picked it up straight from the factory

The McLaren F1 chassis #038 is one of just 64 road-only versions ever built.

Finished in a bold orange with a bronze shimmer, it was unlike anything on the road then, and still turns heads decades later.

Businessman Dan Kennedy beamed as he checked out the car, while his wife – armed with a camcorder – admitted she wasn’t sold on the color at first.

But once she saw it in person, she was all in.

“It’s kind of bronzy, and I like that,” she said.

Together they marvelled at its design: the central seating position, the removable steering wheel, the voice-guided stereo, and the bespoke luggage compartments

The moment is pure, unfiltered joy.

He’s made millions of dollars on the McLaren F1

Back then, Kennedy paid just under $900,000 USD for the F1.

At the time, it was a record-breaking machine with a BMW-built 6.1L V12, a six-speed manual, and a 243mph top speed.

What he didn’t know? That same car would be worth more than $27 million today.

Considering he bought the car for £634,500 (around $900,000) in the ’90s and it’s now worth £20,000,000 (around $27 million), that’s a return of £19,365,000 (around $26 million) or just over 3,000 percent.

And yes, that’s just for one car.

The video is packed with charm, ‘90s nostalgia, and genuine love for the vehicle.

Shot on a handheld camera, it feels like a family vacation tape – except instead of a beach or theme park, the star attraction is a McLaren F1.

One YouTube viewer wrote: “Even buying one today wouldn’t be as special as taking delivery brand new.”

Another called it ‘the best supercar video ever.’

It’s easy to see why. This wasn’t just a delivery – it was a front-row seat to an iconic moment.

And now, decades later, that raw, unfiltered moment is worth millions of dollars.

This power couple didn’t just take delivery of a McLaren F1. They unknowingly captured one of the greatest investments, and most unforgettable handovers in automotive history.
