EV manufacturer Rivian teased the return of ‘Tank Turn’ after fans had been waiting years for it, and it’s safe to say the announcement has created waves of excitement.
The feature allowed drivers to create a special maneuver, but the feature has since disappeared.
Now, in an exciting turn of events, it could be on the brink of a dramatic return.
The news was teased online by the company itself, and gearheads simply can’t wait.

It’s the return of the ‘Tank Turn’ and it’s long-awaited
Within the EV world, many vehicles have cutting-edge perks and features that tempt people to switch over from gas-powered cars.

Rivian is no different, with its SUVs and trucks storming onto the scene over a decade ago
The cars are known for having impressive, state-of-the-art features, which our very own Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie, found out for herself after discovering the key, which you can watch above.
But, after a hiatus, one special feature could be making its way back behind the wheel sooner than you think.

The company introduced ‘Tank Turn’ to its vehicles, but the feature ultimately disappeared, disheartening fans.
The feature enabled the electric vehicles to turn and spin 360 degrees. Sounds impressive right?
The spinning element of the EV wasn’t meant to be, though, as there was concern for the ground and trails beneath the strong tires, which caused the company to halt it.
And, after not being available for six years, 2025 could see the return of ‘Tank Turn’ – or so it seems.
Rivian teased the comeback online, debuting a video stating that the ‘R1 Quad Launch Edition arrives July 8.’
Online, gearheads couldn’t get enough
As you’d expect, the news of the return of the tank turn has spread, and gearheads simply cannot wait.
The announcement has sparked some interest online, with auto enthusiasts expressing their excitement.
“Holy cucumber, is this a tank turn ?” asked one Rivian fan.
“It’s getting hot in here,” joked another.
“And us Gen1 quad owners better get the feature,” said another.
Rivian’s EVs are no strangers to being tested against others in the auto world, such as the Tesla Cybertruck.
Here’s what we want to know: Is this really the return of ‘Tank Turn’? And what will it be put up against this time?
