Rolls-Royce has unveiled a chess set that ‘exudes elegance’ and probably costs more than your average car.
As you might imagine, coming from the luxury carmaker, the chess set in question isn’t your average set.
The futuristic-looking chess set features sculptural ceramic-coated pieces and can be finished using ‘one of 13 Rolls-Royce leather colours’ and a choice of four veneer combinations.
It doesn’t get much fancier than that, does it?

The chess set is made using the ‘finest materials’
The newly launched chess set is about as luxurious as you’d expect coming from the British carmaker.

The marque says ‘every detail exudes elegance’ and that it’s been specially crafted to put folks in mind of the feeling you get when you see a Rolls-Royce car.
“The embedded chess pieces are ceremoniously unveiled, evoking the sense of occasion synonymous with the arrival of a Rolls-Royce motor car,” it explains on its website.
The whole thing is made using nothing but the finest materials – including hand-fitted veneer and polished details which ‘echo the superior craftsmanship’ you’d find in the interiors of one of its cars.
To keep things nice and steady while you play, the board has magnets underneath to hold the pieces in place.
And there’s a hidden drawer on each side with an additional ‘Queen’ piece inside to replace a piece that has been promoted during the game.
It has customizable elements, much like a Rolls-Royce car
Much like a Rolls-Royce vehicle, the set has several customizable options, including the choice of four different veneer combinations and 13 different leather colors.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a real Rolls-Royce without the Spirit of Ecstasy, would it? Which is why the marque has ‘discreetly’ affixed the emblem on the front and back of the board.
The show-stopper chess set is listed as a ‘price available on request’ – so it’s likely that it comes with a steep price tag.
In the past, the marque launched its Cellarette drinks chest that would set you back $55,000, so it’s not too unreasonable to assume the chess set could have an equally high price point.
For those who enjoy the finer things in life, you can also buy a Tiffany & Co.’s $215,000 race car clock.
