This car, the ROX 01, drove all the way from China to the UAE – across 13 countries.
During the trip, the REEV had to negotiate rough terrain, dramatic temperature swings, and all kinds of obstacles.
But it did more than alright.
And you’ll never guess where the final leg of the journey took it.

An incredible journey across over 13 countries
The ROX 01 left China and reached the UAE after crossing 13 countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
Along the way, the ROX 01 conquered every imaginable terrain from water, salt flats, mud, busy city streets – you name it.

Part of the reason the company did this was to prove that REEVs are strong enough and perfectly capable of crossing deserts and surviving long and arduous journeys across different landscapes.
The icing on the cake was the final destination of the journey, the Yas Marina F1 Circuit in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE.

This goes to show that not only can this vehicle withstand intense use in real-world conditions, but it’s also good enough to take on one of the world’s most renowned race tracks.
About the ROX 01
Designed by Pininfarina and built in China, the 01 is an all-wheel drive SUV with both a gas engine and an electric motor.
Technically, this still qualifies as an electric vehicle because it’s an REEV – Range Extender Electric Vehicle, sometimes also known as EREV, which stands for Extended-Range Electric Vehicle.
Tomato-tomato, but the bottom line is this is a vehicle with an electric motor, and a range extender in the form of a gas engine.

In a hybrid, the tiny electric unit is there to help the internal combustion engine.
In an REEV, the internal combustion engine supports the electric unit by providing extra range.

Technical details aside, the 01 is what some people call a ‘continent crusher’, a vehicle capable of easily and smoothly crossing countries and continents and making long journeys comfortable.
Inside, you’ll find two seats at the front and two armchairs at the back, with armrests and a little folding table.
There’s even an extra row of seats, making this a seven-seater.
It also has a gigantic sunroof and a control panel that looks like it comes from an airplane.

In terms of power and performance, the upgraded version offers over 470hp, and a combined range in excess of 1,000km.
So far, ROX has delivered over 10,000 units.
And we can see why.
This looks like an ideal all-rounder.
