When the desert sun becomes unbearable, the Saudi royals do what only a few can: retreat via private jet to the cool serenity of the Swiss Alps and the esteemed Bürgenstock Resort

As Riyadh sizzles under 115°F heat, members of the House of Saud have made their seasonal escape.

Their chosen destination? None other than the luxurious Bürgenstock Resort, perched high above Lake Lucerne in the canton of Nidwalden.

However, they aren’t the first foreign dignitaries to visit.

Saudi Royals are latest foreign dignitaries to visit

According to Swiss media reports, around 200 guests from Saudi Arabia arrived by private jet, bringing with them a full entourage of chefs, staff, and provisions.

The group is reportedly occupying sections of the world-renowned Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne, a sprawling 60-hectare retreat known for hosting dignitaries, monarchs, and celebrities for over a century.

While the resort’s management has confirmed that the entire property hasn’t been booked out, their presence is unmistakable.

The Bürgenstock Resort, founded in 1873, includes three luxury hotels, private residences, and a spa center that gazes out over Lake Lucerne from 500 meters above.

Its guest list reads like a who’s who of global royalty and elites: from Princess Grace of Monaco to Queen Ingrid of Denmark and Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar.

It’s likely that the Saudi royals are staying in the crown jewel of the resort: the aptly named Lake View Royal Suite, which boasts a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Alpine landscape.

A relatively low-key royal visit

Despite their reputation for lavish spending, the group’s visit has remained low-key.

There have been no official statements, and the royal guests are said to be enjoying their Swiss summer discreetly, albeit in high style.

Whether indulging in gourmet Swiss cheese crafted by personal chefs or relaxing in the resort’s sleek indoor pool, the royals are taking full advantage of their Alpine haven.

In the end, while most people seek air-conditioning during a heatwave, the Saudi royal family takes it to a whole new level by using their private jet to escape the country entirely.

The only question remains: did they bring their army of falcons along for the trip, or are they left sizzling in the heat at home?
