Capable of getting from New York to London in an hour, supersonic planes are quickly becoming a reality again, and this wild simulation shows what it would look like to see one reaching Mach-1 over NYC.
We’ve not had a public supersonic plane since the Concorde was retired. But as we close out 2025, we’re closer than ever to having that become a reality again.
Thanks to the likes of the NASA X-59 and Boom Supersonic XB-1, the lightning-fast airplanes could be set to be made readily available within a matter of years.
Ahead of their arrival, one simulation has showcased just how fast the supersonic planes are, as the video above follows the two-minute-long journey from JFK over NYC’s Athletic Field and out to Newark.
