If you’re an anime fan, you’re going to love this custom-build of the Devil Z from Wangan Midnight.

Even if you’re not a fan of that particular series, you’ll still get a kick out of this beastly creation.

It’s an unholy combination of JDM style and muscle car power wrapped up in a race-ready package.

It even kicks out 666 horsepower for good measure.

This ungodly animal is the brainchild of John Lau, who goes by PikachuPcar on YouTube, and as you can see, he’s really gone overboard.

Everything has been made bespoke, from the body kit to the headlights to the 3D-printed pitchfork logo that is emblazoned across the car.

It’s absolutely stunning, and has taken a serious amount of work to bring to life.

Speaking to Larry Chen on his YouTube channel, the creator explained how this incredible machine was built from the ground up and showed off his incredible handiwork from some great angles.

The story behind the Devil Z

In case you’re not a big manga enthusiast, we should first give you the low-down on Wangan Midnight.

It’s a racing series created by writer and illustrator Michiharu Kusunoki.

First published in 1990, the series has since been adapted into a number of films, video games, and an anime TV series.

The series centers around the street racing scene in Tokyo and high-schooler Akio Asakura, who is determined to earn respect on the roads of the Bayshore Route.

The undoubted star of the show is his Nissan Fairlady Z – a true Japanese classic – nicknamed the Devil Z.

It earned that nickname because it is supposedly cursed and difficult to drive, with a history of crashes.

This custom build is an unholy beast

This real-life Devil Z is a heavily modded 240Z, a model of the Nissan S30 that was sold in Japan as the Fairlady Z.

It was manufactured between 1969 and 1978 – this model is from 1971 – and looks amazing even without the modifications.

However, it is the modifications that make this build extra special.

The body kit was designed in collaboration with John Sibal and features – amongst many other things – a custom front splitter and rear diffuser.

It’s a widebody, and has huge Work Meister M1 wheels that make the car track-ready.

It definitely wouldn’t look out of place in this outstanding collection of Japanese cars.

This car is more than just its looks, though.

The engine has been upgraded and a Garrett G35-900 turbocharger added, meaning this thing can seriously shift.

As well as that, the upscaled 240Z has custom carbon-ceramic brakes, Apex Engineered suspension, and those custom Devil Z flourishes to really set the whole thing off.

This incredible restomod was displayed at the recent SEMA – Specialty Equipment Market Association – show in Las Vegas.

Honestly, it couldn’t be cooler – it’s not just one for the anime-addicts.

You can take a full tour of the custom Devil Z on Larry Chen’s YouTube channel.
