Spy shots have hinted at an upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 Cabriolet, marking an exciting development for fans of the sports car.

The 911 GT3 is an extra high-performance version of the sports car, designed with the race track in mind as well as the road, but it is only available as a coupe.

However, now it looks like the GT3 is going to get a Cabriolet version. This will allow us to enjoy this legendary car with the roof down.

Spy shots have emerged with what looks like a test mule for a Cabriolet. Naturally, it has created a lot of excitement among Porsche enthusiasts.

The images of the potential Cabriolet sports car have appeared on Instagram, with typically lower resolution than an official Porsche picture would provide.

What we can see, though, is a fold-down soft-top roof with the aerodynamics of the 911 GT3.

The package is denoted by the vents behind the front wheel arches, the rear bumper, and the dual exhausts.

Other parts include the more aggressive rear diffuser and vents behind the rear wheels as well.

All of this suggests that a 911 GT3 convertible from the current 992.2 generation Porsche 911 is on the way.

This would be one hell of a result for fans who have longed for this for some time.

What would power the 911 GT3 Cabriolet?

While not confirmed, the convertible will likely have the same engine as the standard 911 GT3.

Under the hood, it has a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, making 502hp and 346lb-ft of torque.

This is arguably the finest generation of 911 ever made, and the car seems to get better and better each time.

Before this, if you wanted an open-top GT3, the only way to do this was to buy the 911 Speedster.

However, this new version would open customers up to the full benefits of the GT3 model of the sports car.

Being able to experience the handling of this version with the roof down is a very exciting prospect.

Should it sell well, we may see a Porsche 911 GT3 Cabriolet in the range for many years and generations to come.
