This man has pulled off the impossible, having restored an abandoned boat that had sunk to the bottom of a ski lake.

He was under no illusion when he discovered the boat; he knew it would need a lot of work.

But he couldn’t bear seeing it sent to the scrapyard so he committed to restoring it.

Or attempting to at the least.

Abandoned boat gets restored after some serious DIY

Just like car restorations, bringing other vehicles back to life is a rewarding business venture and can be extremely satisfying on the eye with a good bit of DIY.

Boat projects have been rather popular in recent years too, with some people spending three years and thousands of dollars to give yachts another lease of life.

But this time, YouTube DIY specialist Dan Lee Boatbuilding has caught quite a hefty rebuild project in his fishing net, scooping out this abandoned boat.

The project was mostly internal, but there were also many structural developments to undertake on the deformed hull as it was dropped on concrete during a poor excuse of an insurance coup.

Holes were patched, the alignment was pulled back into its original shape, and any extra dents were also smoothed back into place.

Then it got tricky. The motor engine needed a complete disassembly, having been submerged in water for years.

The inside of the boat was also completely rotten, meaning the entire internals would need replacing, after stripping it back down to its bare bones.

But despite its original wrecked state, there was definitely life left in it.

With deep and intricate woodwork, Dan Lee Boatbuilding fully restored the boat to a new and improved state, primed for getting back on the water again.

There is still some work to do on the finer details, but for the most part, the boat is ready to go again.

Many abandoned boats have been impressive to see restored, and this is up there alongside the Facebook Marketplace sale that turned out to be a full-sized yacht.
