Supercar Blondie’s ‘Lucy’ Lamborghini has been given a Hot Wheels transformation, and it’s now available for you to pre-order.
This Lambo is a real stunner, decked out in blue flowers.
As you might expect, scaling this intricate design down to a model was a challenge.
But for the team over at Mattel, this was a challenge gladly accepted.
How ‘Lucy’ the Lamborghini Huracán became a Hot Wheels car
You’d be hard-pressed to find a model car brand that’s as iconic as Hot Wheels.
Whether it’s recreating F1 cars or paying homage to a rare Mustang from 1993, the brand is consistently putting out awesome 1:64 scale cars.
And now Alex Hirschi, aka Supercar Blondie, gets to be part of that incredible legacy.
One of Supercar Blondie’s supercars is getting the Hot Wheels treatment as part of the brand’s first-ever Class of Legends.
She joins this distinguished group alongside global music superstar Maluma and soccer champion Robert Lewandowski.
The supercar in question is better known as ‘Lucy’, a Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4.
Lucy is a stunning car, with blue flowers mapped out across its black body.
It’s a car that has a lot of sentimental value for Hirschi.
Why Lucy means so much to Supercar Blondie
This was Hirschi’s first supercar, and became deeply entwined with her journey.
Even its design choices reflect her decision to venture into a space that had been traditionally dominated by men.
While flowers are stereotypically feminine, the colors chosen – black and blue – are more often associated with masculinity.
“It took days and days of labor of guys hour after hour on every inch of this car,” Hirschi told Hot Wheels.
It took the artist three weeks to complete with more intricate touches revealed with every inch of the car covered, matching blue seat belts, and a carbon fiber steering wheel inside.
The Dubai government even had to make a new ‘drawing’ category for its design to receive approval.
When you see the car, you’ll appreciate how finely tuned it is down to the most minute detail.
And that’s all the more true with the Hot Wheels version.
Imagine trying to map out Lucy’s beautiful floral exterior onto a 1:64 model and you’ll appreciate the scale of the challenge, if you pardon the pun.
