Tennessee brothers Simeon and Eleazarre, aka Goonzquad, have rebuilt a totaled Corvette ZR1, and after seven months of work, the completed project sounds incredible.

Corvette sports cars are some of America’s finest work.

Up there with the Viper and Mustang, the Corvette has seen generations of top-calibre engineering go into refining these quality sports cars.

But this particular ZR1 had seen better days before these Tennessee restoration gurus got their hands on it.

Smashed Corvette ZR1 needed a massive rebuild

The Corvette ZR1 is set for its latest series instalment this year, as General Motors’ new sporty Chevy has already showcased dominance on American racetracks.

But one of the most iconic cars in the Corvette portfolio is the 2010 C6 ZR1, which started the opaque bonnet trend, showing the turbocharged 6.2-litre LS9 V8 engine thrusting at full force.

This particular ZR1, which was bought by the Tennessee YouTube team Goonzquad, had once been a dynamite sports car, but following an incident, was rendered totaled with massive front-end damage.

However, these guys were determined to give it a new lease on life.

Despite also having a McLaren Senna in the garage among many other supercar restorations, these gurus went to town rebuilding the front end and adding plentiful upgrades in the process.

They even ended up buying another Corvette ZR1 as a play toy after seeing one on the market when looking for paint colors.

Now, after a nine-part series on YouTube which included installing a freshly-built motor and an entirely new front end, both of the Chevys are primed for the track again.

Corvette rebuild sounds incredible

The final instalment of the rebuild saw the brothers add a custom roll cage, a hydraulic handbrake, new Braum denim racing seats, racing tires and wheels, and a carbon rear diffuser.

And with the project complete, they’ve taken the Corvette ZR1 on a small test drive, and the engine is absolutely deafening.

With a showcase of the new handbrake system and a few 180-degree drifts, the ZR1 was ‘an absolute blast’.

There are still a few final tunes to add, but the rebuild might be one of the finest we’ve ever seen, and this Corvette ZR1 will soon be living its best life again.

The latest Chevy ZR1 has proven to be equally as impressive as its predecessors, setting the bar for all future American sports cars by smashing Road Atlanta’s lap record.
