Tesla had such an eventful year in 2025 it was hard to keep up

Tesla had a pretty eventful year in 2025, and not just because of the Robotaxi launch.

Tesla is one of those companies that consistently generates headlines, either because of something the company does or something Tesla owners are doing.

From the guy who compared his old truck to a typewriter to the one who drag raced his Cybertruck against a RAM truck – there’s a lot to unpack.

And then we need to talk about the guy who was so tired of waiting for the new Roadster, he ended up creating his own.

“Like going from a typewriter to a laptop”

Earlier this year, a Cybertruck owner went viral after using a catchy analogy to describe his experience with his Cybertruck.

This EV owner, based in Colorado, took to the Cybertruck Owners Club to talk about his experience.

“My wife described it like going from a typewriter to a laptop,” he said.

He paid $80,000 for his truck, but he called it a ‘fair price for the leap forward this truck is’.

Interestingly, he did have one regret, though.

He said he wouldn’t check the FSD box again.

This Cybertruck owner got no sympathy

A Cybertruck owner in California had the exact opposite experience.

This Cybertruck owner asked fellow social media users to ‘help him’ because he’d tried to off-road while towing and it just wouldn’t work.

But he didn’t get much sympathy.

Most of the comments were pretty harsh.

“Just get a [Ford] F-150,” one user wrote.

Another person had a similar sentiment.

“This is further proof truck guys didn’t design [the Cybertruck],” he wrote.

A drag race between two very different trucks

Another moment that defined 2025 for Tesla was a drag race between a Cybertruck and a RAM TRX set up by a YouTuber who goes by MADMAXC7.

You wouldn’t have organized a drag race between two pick-up trucks just 10 years ago, but today, pick-up trucks have enough torque to restart a dead planet, which is why this sort of thing actually makes sense.

Although, to be fair, the fact that both trucks were painted Goblin green may have contributed to the virality of this moment.

This EV owner chose his Tesla over his Porsche because the Porsche was too good

The reason why this EV buyer chose his Tesla over his Porsche needs to be studied.

Put simply, he chose the Tesla because he liked it less, which sounds absurd but we should at least give some context.

Simon Minter explained the rationale on his YouTube channel.

He decided to keep his Tesla because he ‘cared about’ his Porsche too much.

He was basically too afraid of ruining his Porsche to use it properly, and so he chose the Tesla.

Kind of like wearing a pair of sneakers you like less simply because you don’t want to scuff the pair you like more.

This guy created a DIY Tesla Roadster

Los Angeles-based David Andreyev – AKA Cyber Hooligan – is a YouTube personality who came up with an incredible idea.

By using the chassis of an old Model 3, he stripped the Cybertruck down to its core and placed the parts on his own custom Tesla.

He calls it the Tesla CyberRoadster.

His CyberRoadster is legal, somehow, but driving it around Los Angeles is still problematic.

Apart from anything else, he can’t drive it without causing total chaos in the city.
