A demo of the long-promised Tesla Roadster is finally happening; at least, that’s what Tesla’s Chief Designer is promising.
After many years of silence, delays, and memes, the carmaker has broken its quiet streak with a genuine update.
According to official reports, the Roadster will finally be showcased in an ‘epic’ public demonstration before 2025 wraps up.
This time, Tesla swears it’s real (or as real as any Tesla timeline can be).

It’s been five years since the original launch date
The update comes courtesy of Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, who appeared on the Ride The Lightning podcast this week to talk about the long-awaited electric supercar.
According to von Holzhausen, the Tesla Roadster demo is still on track for this year, and the company has been fine-tuning the car to what he describes as the ‘limits of physics’.

He added that the car will come with new paint options and performance that will ‘blow people’s minds.’
“I’m excited to showcase the Roadster for a lot of different reasons,” Tesla’s Chief Designer said, hinting that the showcase will be something truly special.
“The wait will be worth it.”
Given that the original launch date was in 2020, fans will be expecting something truly special to justify the wait.
Many people already canceled their Roadster orders
The Roadster’s saga has been anything but smooth.
Originally revealed in 2017 with a promised 0–60 mph time of under two seconds, the car quickly gained cult status.

Tesla began taking hefty deposits, some as high as $250,000 for the ‘Founders Series’ models, and then… nothing.
No cars, no updates, just vague promises and increasingly skeptical customers.
Even high-profile buyers like YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) got caught up in the mess.
After waiting years, Brownlee recently canceled his Tesla Roadster order, nearly eight years after he paid a $50,000 deposit.
This process took multiple attempts, before the carmaker finally refunded the full amount.
Many would-be owners have shared similar stories of frustration, as they were effectively giving the company an interest-free loan for nearly a decade.
After all, if Brownlee put $50,000 in Tesla stock instead, his stocks would be worth more than $1 million.
Still, there’s cautious optimism in the air.
If Tesla can deliver on this long-awaited demo, it might just reignite the excitement that made the original Roadster such a legend.
In fact, there’s perhaps no pressure for the Tesla Roadster demo to even be succesful.
After all, Tesla’s Chief Designer himself previously said that smashing the first Cybertruck’s window with a metal ball was a ‘great marketing moment’.
