The long-awaited Tesla Cybercab should be available in the early part of 2026.
Hopefully.
The company said we’ll finally get a proper Robotaxi, as in an electric self-driving vehicle with no steering wheel and no pedals, after a few months of ‘Beta’ mode with the current Robotaxi, which is just a reworked Model Y.
But there are two questions people are still asking.

Cybercab should be here by 2026
It feels both like yesterday and 1,000 years ago, but it’s actually been almost exactly one year since Tesla unveiled the Cybercab.
In theory, Cybercab was designed to rival Waymo, Zoox, and all the other autonomous taxis with a futuristic, Cybertruck-esque vehicle with no pedals and no steering wheel.
In practice, Tesla eventually decided to launch an autonomous ride-hailing service using ‘regular’ Tesla Model Ys with FSD, and with a safety driver in the passenger’s seat.
However, Tesla says the ‘real’ Cybercab is going to be here soon.

During Tesla’s quarterly call, investors heard that the company is ‘going to expand production as fast as we can’, including for the Robotaxi.
“The single biggest expansion in production will be the Cybercab, which starts production in Q2 next year,” the company confirmed.
Fingers crossed.

There are two questions that linger
Investors and would-be buyers will certainly be happy to hear that Cybercab will be here soon, but there are two questions some people are asking.
Namely, where’s Robovan, and more importantly, where is Roadster?
Robovan was unveiled along with Cybercab, and it’s essentially the same thing – an autonomous taxi – but it’s a van rather than a car.
Things are a bit more complicated with the long-awaited second-gen Roadster.

It was first announced in 2017, and people have been placing orders since.
But it’s been nearly a decade, and we still don’t have an actual ETA for it.
Fortunately, the EV maker has also answered that question.
More or less.
The EV maker said that if everything goes to plan, a production version of the new Roadster should be ‘demoed’ by late 2025.
