Tesla Cybertruck takes on classic muscle car 1970 Chevelle Malibu in a drag race and it's surprisingly close

It was a case of old versus young when this 1970 Chevelle Malibu took on a Tesla Cybertruck in a drag race.
These are two cars which represent their eras perfectly.
The Chevelle Malibu is colorful and fun like the 1970s, while the Cybertruck is rugged and minimalistic like the 2020s.
But leaving aside the aesthetics, which one would emerge victorious out on the race track?
The Chevelle Malibu and the Tesla Cybertruck go to battle
The track was set, the sun was beaming, and the two cars were lined up at the start line.
They couldn’t have looked more different next to each other.
The smooth round lines of the Chevelle put it worlds away from the jagged edges of the Cybertruck.
But in a race, they would be more similar than you might expect.
The allure of modernity can often have us thinking that new equals better.
Many people would have undoubtedly expected the Cybertruck to leave the Chevelle in the dust.
But that’s not quite happened.
In fact, the Chevelle got the upper hand right out of the gate and looked to be the runaway winner.
Then the Cybertruck leapt into action, almost as if its driver felt they had a point to prove.
Ultimately, the Cybertruck edged out a victory – but it was a close run thing.
Viewers reacted to the race in a way that has become custom on the internet – by mocking the Cybertruck.
“Still rather lose in a Chevelle than own a cyber dumpster,” one wrote.
“It does my heart good to be remembered how much cars were things of beauty back in the day compared to the monstrosities of today,” another commented.
“I’d rather push that Chevelle than being caught driving a Cybertruck,” a third said.

For some reason, people seem especially keen to put a Tesla into a drag race.
Whether it’s up against a Chevy Corvette Z51, a Dodge Charger Daytona, or a BYD Sealion 7, it seems that everyone wants to push the American EV brand to its limit.
But sometimes, the Tesla really does ace it – when this Cybertruck took on a Hummer EV, it wasn’t even close.
