It’s not every day you see a Tesla Cybertruck drag race a Corvette, but that’s exactly what happened at Barona Dragstrip in Lakeside, California.

The matchup looked like a scene from a Hollywood action movie – a sleek C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51, taking on a beefy Tesla Cybertruck.

The man behind this showdown is the videographer behind the SSDracer YouTube channel, who also happens to be a dedicated weekend racer.

But details aside, who actually won?

First, we need to take a look at the contestants.

SSDracer’s Corvette is a gorgeous blue Z51 model, with a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8, producing 495 horsepower.

It’s quick and light, and it’s a regular contender at the 1/8th-mile strip at Barona.

The Tesla Cybertruck is almost completely different from the sleek Corvette.

This particular model is the high-powered ‘Cyberbeast’ version, bringing a massive 845 horsepower to the table.

It has all-wheel drive and instant electric torque, although needless to say, it’s much heavier than its competitor.

On paper, the truck also seems more suited to moving an entire apartment worth of belongings, rather than drag racing.

But as any experienced racer knows, stats aren’t everything.

As the race kicked off, the Corvette got a sharp launch, temporarily leaving the Cybertruck in the dust.

Despite all its power, the Cybertruck’s weight appears to be working against it, and it spent much of the race playing catch-up.

Interestingly, when it was over, the Cybertruck actually finished the run with a quicker time.

This explains why it can hold its own in a race against a Lamborghini Aventador.

At 7.23 seconds at 99mph, the Cybertruck edged out the Corvette, which had a time of 7.55 seconds at 94mph.

However, here’s the twist – the Corvette actually won.

It crossed the finish line first, due to its lightning-fast launch off the line.

If it was a quarter-mile contest instead, the Tesla Cyberbeast might very well have pulled ahead.

Indeed, this is not the first time a Cybertruck has faced off with a Corvette, so maybe there is a deeper rivalry forming here.
