Tesla Cybertruck drivers have shared what changes they’d like to see in upcoming generations of the EV, and it’s not all about range.

Deliveries of the eagerly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck began in late 2023, following a series of delays and setbacks.

The ‘love it or hate it’ styling has sparked much debate amongst car enthusiasts.

Now, a handful of Cybertruck owners have talked about what changes they’re hoping for if the EV gets a second-generation model.

Tesla Cybertruck drivers share what improvements they want

The Tesla Cybertruck was unveiled to much fanfare, but despite this – or possibly because of this – that hasn’t quite translated to sales.

In response to sluggish sales, Tesla started accepting trade-ins and discounting trucks.

While, newly released figures show that the EV maker is producing around 5,000 every quarter – a whole lot less than the 250,000 per year capacity Tesla had initially announced.

Some folks have also revealed that they regret buying the Cybertruck

Nonetheless, there are many happy Tesla Cybertruck drivers out there, and a bunch of them have recently taken to Reddit to share what they’d like to see in a second-generation truck.

The original poster said they’d like to have a more versatile tailgate, like you might find on a Ford, and the ability to use the onboard air compressor to inflate the tires and for general use, like pumping up your bike’s tires.

They’re also hoping for a larger steering wheel, comparing it to the Model 3, which they believe has more grip than the Cybertruck.

Lastly, and perhaps not surprisingly, they’d like to see the trucks offer better range

Others chipped in with their own suggestions, including an integrated LCD screen for the rear view mirror, built-in Starlink, an improved LED bar, and washers for the rear camera.

“I want to see the design go back to the look of the concept,” another owner said. “It looked more aggressive and cool than the production version.”

“I want the ramp in the tailgate I was promised,” someone else added.

While a fellow Cybertruck owner admitted to having no issues at all, aside from the interestingly-shaped cupholders.

It’s been a tough year for Tesla

A recent report confirmed that Tesla Cybertuck sales were down to just 5,000 units per quarter.

And the Cybertruck is not the only Tesla model struggling.

The company delivered around 15,000 cars in total in Q2 2025, way lower than last year.

Earlier this year, Ford overtook Tesla in electric truck sales, and more recently Chevrolet also outsold the EV carmaker.

However, it’s important to note that this is happening between several models, specifically the Silverado EV, which sold 3,056 sold in Q2 and the Sierra EV, which sold 1,524.
