A Tesla Cybertruck owner has revealed how much it cost him to charge his truck at home for the entire year.

One of the main reasons motorists opt for an EV is the fact that it costs a lot less to recharge a battery than to fill up a tank with gas.

They also have the added flexibility and convenience of being able to charge up their vehicles at home.

Now one man has revealed how much it really costs him to charge his Cybertruck at his property for a whole year – and it’s pretty eye-opening.

TikTok user Joe Fay, – or @jf.okay – regularly shares videos about life with his Tesla to his 3.5 million followers.

He’s previously shared all the things he loves about EV ownership and has also revealed exactly how long it takes him to charge his Cybertruck at home. Spoiler alert: it takes quite a while

In a new clip, he’s shared exactly how much he’s spent on electricity charging his Cybertruck at home for a full year as well as calculating how much it’s saved him on gas.

“It’s actually very easy to find out this information,” he said in the clip. “It is all located right on the Tesla app.”

So, how much did it cost?

He then goes on to reveal that between December 2023 and November 2024, he used 6,689kWh – or to put it another way $436 worth of electricity.

Fay says this adds up to savings of $2,573 on gas in a single year. Impressive, right?

He then breaks it down further, explaining that the numbers equate to 53 full – 0% to 100% – at-home charges for the Cybertruck.

That works out at just over $8 to completely recharge the battery.

“That means I can drive 340 miles for just eight dollars,” he adds.

Fay goes on to say that this means for each $8 charge he gets around 340 miles.

“I don’t know about you, but that’s about the cost of three gallons of gas, and in a normal truck you can maybe go 50 miles.”

It’s enough to make even the most ardent fans of gas-powered cars consider an EV.
