As it turns out, Tesla Cybertruck tires cost a lot more than people expected.
The Tesla Cybertruck was unveiled a year and a half ago, which means we now have a decent track record regarding maintenance costs.
It doesn’t always look great, especially when it comes to tire changes.
And there’s actually a very specific reason for that.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for tires.
It depends on the manufacturer, type of vehicle, how often you use it and where, and so on.
However, according to some owners, Cybertruck can easily chew through tires in 7,000 miles or less, especially if you use to tow stuff or other vehicles on rough terrain.

The Cybertruck is heavy, and it has an infinite amount of torque, which is a really bad combo if preserving your tires is the ultimate goal.
The truck uses massive 35-inch tires based on Goodyear’s Wrangler Territory RT.
But there’s a catch.
The sidewalls on Cybertruck’s tires are custom designed to accommodate the truck’s unique wheel covers.

There’s apparently no workaround solution for this, unless the owner is willing to use different wheels altogether.
Other than that, owners can only swallow the bitter pill and pay up.
This is problematic and costly because Cybertruck tires cost around $2,000 per set.
You can buy Jeff Bezos’ daily driver for that, or the world’s cheapest truck.
To be fair, this is a problem that most EVs have – not just Tesla’s truck.
According to research Alixpartners, electric vehicles can burn through tires about 20 percent faster than internal combustion vehicles do (and new EV tires generally cost more), mostly due to the fact their heavy weight and quick acceleration.
So, if it’s any consolation, Cybertruck owners aren’t the only people whose tire budget has gone up.
