As America kicks up the tempo in its preparations to host the FIFA World Cup 2026 alongside its two heavyweight neighbors, the US government has given Mexico three Tesla Cybertrucks to help bolster its defense.

Mexico will join the US and Canada in hosting the World Cup in 2026, earning them a ninth consecutive qualification for soccer’s elite international tournament.

With a history of leaking goals, it’s about time they tightened up on the defensive side of things in order to match their top-eight best results in 1986 and 1970.

But it’s off the pitch where security seems to be ramping up, as the state of Jalisco has added three Tesla Cybertrucks to its police force lineup.

Cars have always been a large part of the security when it comes to the biggest soccer events in the world.

In fact, the last time the World Cup rolled around, the Qatar Police enlisted the help of the Lamborghini Urus.

Nine matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place in Mexico, with the capital City kicking off the tournament and opening ceremony, and Guadalajara backing it up.

With the four group games planned for the Akran Stadium in Guadalajara, the State of Jalisco has now called in a further 678 vehicles to its police force.

Among those are three matte black-wrapped Tesla Cybertrucks.

The Cybertruck has become a staple in many police forces, given its strength and speed.

“Jalisco boards the future. The state government takes a bold step toward innovation with the acquisition of Cybertrucks for its official fleet,” the US Embassy said on X.

Other beefy vehicles will accompany the Tesla Cybertrucks.

Ford F-Series trucks are common in the force, while a number of armored ‘Black Mamba’ vehicles will headline the fleet.

Not every government official is impressed, though. According to Mexico News Daily, one State President has teased America for claiming that Mexico is ‘leaping into the future.’

“I see [the vehicle] and think Robocop is going to come out. I said, ‘Wow, we don’t have to worry anymore. There’s someone out there to take care of us.’ Thank you very much,” Morena President Erika Pérez joked.

The US, Canadian, and Mexican national teams will all automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will kick off next July.

However you feel about Cybertrucks, there’s no denying they’re built for just this type of job.

Here’s to wondering if the host nations will follow in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia by donating some flashy cars to the national team stars if they do well…
