Just weeks after opening its doors for the first time, the Tesla Diner has trimmed down its menu, leaving only a handful of items.

The Tesla Diner officially opened up in Los Angeles along the iconic Route 66 at 4.20pm on July 21.

The diner blends retro-styling with futuristic touches and, of course, plenty of Superchargers.

However, just weeks on from its grand opening, the diner’s menu has been scaled back.

What’s still on the menu at the Tesla Diner?

Upon opening, the Tesla Diner soon attracted plenty of attention, with folks impressed by the Optimus bots serving up popcorn and the neat way the burgers are served up, although it’s safe to say not everyone was impressed.

The diner was launched with a fairly extensive menu with plenty of standard American fare, including a burger for $13.50, a hot dog for $13, fried chicken and waffles priced at $13, and a $13 club sandwich.

Sides included ‘epic bacon’ for $12, hash brown bites for $8, tallow-fried french fries at $4 a portion, and a Wagyu beef chili cup for $8.

But just weeks after launching, Tesla has introduced a much more limited menu.

The newly trimmed menu now consists of: a burger, a hot dog, a tuna melt sandwich, a fried chicken sandwich, and grilled cheese.

Similarly, sides have also been cut, with just two options left: fries or the beef chilli cup, while the dessert menu is limited to a slice of pecan pie.

Other items, including cinnamon rolls, biscuits and red gravy, and the market salad, also failed to make the cut.

Tesla Diner chef Eric Greenspan told Eater that the menu at the diner would be ‘forever evolving’ and said ‘unprecedented demand’ led to the decision to make the menu smaller.

He also said that occasional specials and ‘Easter eggs’ would pop up from time to time.

The sit-in diner has also had its hours trimmed

When it was launched, Tesla said the diner would be open around the clock, seven days a week.

“Tesla Diner now open. 24/7 from now until forever,” Greenspan wrote on Instagram.

While the website explains, ‘the two-story restaurant offers 24/7 dining, so you can grab a meal any time you need to charge’.

However, the diner itself only operates from 6:00 a.m. until midnight, unless you’re charging your EV or ordering food from your Tesla.
