Massachusetts man 'hacked' his Tesla Model 3 to realize its true mind-blowing potential

When this Massachusetts man hacked his own Tesla Model 3, he realized he’d unlocked its mind-blowing potential.

YouTuber Rich Rebuilds wanted something more out his Model 3.

The EV is a fine car, nobody is disputing that, but Rich wanted to see if he could take it to the next level.

How would this Model 3 look after he’d hacked into it?

This YouTuber wanted to kick things up a notch with his Tesla Model 3

For Rich, there was something a little frustrating abut the lack of options when it comes to upgrades.

Whereas gas cars can be modified in a multitude of ways, EVs are often left dependent on the manufacturer issuing relevant updates.

“One of the things I don’t like about Teslas in general is that you can’t give them any more power,” Rich said.

“You could put all the garnish you want on your plate, but that still doesn’t hide the fact that you don’t have any more meat.

“The only way to get more power out of the car is if you wait for Tesla to say, ‘You know what? Your car can be fast now’.”

But Rich decided he was going to change the record, and enlisted the help of Ingenext, a Canadian company.

Together, they were going to work on some aftermarket performance upgrades for his Tesla Model 3.

They introduced Ghost Model 3 upgrades to the car, bypassing Tesla in the process.

This dropped the car’s 0-60mph time down from 4.4 seconds to 3.2 seconds.

To put this new and improved Model 3 to the test, he raced it against a official Model 3 Peformance.

Even when giving the factory model a head start, the Ghost Model 3 managed to triumph time and time again.

“The Ghost is faster than a real Performance 3… Imagine buying a Performance Model 3 only to get beat by a Ghost Model 3,” Rich remarked.

What was next for this car?

The team unveiled the next twist in the tail, and the pun is fully intended here.

They’d created a massive physical exhaust system which could be installed on the Model 3 to pump out loud simulate ICE noises.

Given how much drivers bemoan the lack of roar with an EV, we can see this going down a treat.

If anyone could get the job done, it’s Rich – in 30 minutes, this guy fixed up a BMW i3 that had been written off.

Following stints at LadBible, The Sun, The New York Post, and the Daily Mail, Ben joined the team full-time in February 2025. In his role as Senior Content Writer, his sparkling copy, the ability to sniff out a good story at 100 paces, and a GSOH quickly led to him becoming an integral and invaluable member of the writing staff.
