If you’ve ever wondered about Tesla Model 3 ownership costs compared to a traditional gas car, YouTuber Adam Wellinformed has some answers.

Over two years and more than 16,500 miles, Adam tracked every penny spent on charging, maintenance, insurance, and even accessories.

He strived to be as transparent as possible, showing the real ownership numbers.

And along the way, he made an interesting discovery.

Being able to charge his Tesla Model 3 at home was a big plus

According to Adam’s findings, charging is where Teslas really shine.

He has the luxury of off-road parking, which allows him to charge at home for just £0.05 ($0.06) per kilowatt-hour, compared to £0.44 ($0.53) at a Supercharger.

Over the year, his car consumed 1,888 kWh, costing roughly £94 (around $113).

Even when factoring in occasional Supercharging sessions, Tesla referral credits meant those costs were effectively zero.

That’s a fraction of what you’d spend filling up a gas car over the same mileage.

Insurance, road tax, and maintenance were next.

His insurance spiked to £630 ($760) due to a prior accident, though he expected a significant drop in the future.

EVs like the Model 3 enjoy zero road tax, and servicing costs only £40 ($50), including cabin filter replacements and washer fluid.

Tesla’s ‘as needed’ service approach, combined with the option to DIY small tasks, keeps costs minimal.

The final results were quite shocking

Adam also tracked accessories, spending £388 ($469) on extras like wheel trims, screen protectors, and car washing gear.

While not essential, he included these costs for full transparency.

After all, personalizing your vehicle is a great way for it to stand out.

When totaled, two years of ownership cost about £1,357 ($1,639), averaging £56 ($68) per month.

That’s far lower than a gas car could achieve for the same mileage.

But here’s the most interesting part: after factoring in all the expenses, including accessories, Adam discovered the cost per mile over two years was shockingly low.

How low? Less than a single cent per mile for the two years he had the car.

As it turns out, Tesla Model 3 ownership costs are dramatically lower than most gas cars.

Even if you aren’t particularly interested in saving the planet, maybe you should consider getting an EV to save your wallet.
