Man so stunned by Tesla Model Y charging costs compared to gas he takes photo as no one would believe him without proof

This man was so taken aback when he compared Tesla Model Y charging costs to gas that he had to take a photo.

When YouTuber MyTeslasUk took his EV in for a charge, he took it up from 374 kWh to 382 kWh.

That represents the range going from 65 miles to 228 miles, a gain of 163 miles all in all.

While that sounds like a lot, the price will take you by surprise.

How much did a Tesla Model Y charge cost this YouTuber?

This isn’t the first time someone has gone public about their EV charging costs.

One UK man gave a thorough breakdown of how much 1,300 miles a week cost him in his Model 3.

For another man, it was a direct comparison between a Tesla and a gas-powered Mini.

So how much did MyTeslasUK end up spending on his charge?

A measly $3.93 – £3 in the UK where he filmed the video.

“Unbelievable,” he told his viewers, as he looked over the bill.

You can say that again.

He added that he was so shocked that he had to take a picture of the costs.

What would a visit to the gas station have cost him?

In a hypothetical medium size car, adding 163 miles worth of petrol would have cost him $34.65, according to Journey Cost Calculator.

That’s quite the difference.

This isn’t the first time an EV user has come to the realization that EVs are cheaper to run than their gas counterparts.

It was recently reported that EVs are officially cheaper to run in the UK than gas-powered cars.

The average petrol driver in the UK spends around $990 (£760) a year on fuel, compared to $903 (£694) on public charging for EV drivers.

And that’s only taking public charging into account.

Those charging from home will save even more.
