It’s no secret that EVs are hot property, especially in China, and now the Tesla Model Y demand has reached levels like never before.

The mid-size SUV is a fan favorite and orders have come in thick and fast towards the end of 2025.

However, potential new owners won’t just be waiting weeks; they’ll be waiting months to sit in the driver’s seat.

Thanks to the popularity of the Tesla Model Y, there are exclusive trims available too.

Tesla Model Y – why is it so popular?

Tesla has many vehicles on offer, but a standout seems to be the Model Y.

First released in 2020, the vehicle has gone from strength to strength ever since, with a new version entering the market earlier this year, known as the Standard version.

But what actually makes it so great?

Well, in China, the EV is offered in four trims: rear wheel drive, long range rear wheel drive, long range all wheel drive, and the Model YL.

The brand’s sales were so high in November that and reportedly even ended up being the second-best month in 2025.

The car has a 372-mile range, proving that the car is a popular snap-up for a reason.

Charging is also in a different league, with a 15-minute charge resulting in a top-up of 165 miles.

Thanks to the demand for autonomous driving features, too, the car also comes with a supervised Full Self Driving Mode and even blind spot monitoring.

How long is the wait for a Tesla Model Y in China

Thanks to the popularity of the EV, wait times have hit a new high.

In fact, now all of 2025’s orders have been booked up and taken, meaning that models will be delivered early in 2026.

Online, delivery dates are estimated to take place in January and February of 2026, depending on the model desired by the customer.

Tesla’s website even comes with a warning that states: “If you wish to guarantee delivery by the end of 2025, please purchase a vehicle currently in stock.”

So, the Model Y has ended the year on the nice list.

We wonder what Tesla trends will come into play in 2026.
