This Tesla Model Y owner shares how much he’s saved in gas

Tesla is arguably one of the most well-known EV companies around, with a wide selection of vehicles available.

Now, more drivers than ever are opting for an EV to save money and the environment.

One EV owner purchased a Tesla Model Y just four months ago and has revealed how much he was able to save by not filling up a gas tank.

Creator howtomilitary explained his love for his Tesla and shared a screenshot stating he saved over $800 and spent $56, with 99 percent of charging carried out at home, and one percent at a Supercharger.

“From a gas, a fuel perspective, compared to electric, at home charging, three cents per kWh, Supercharging, 40 cents per kWh,” explained the Tesla Model Y owner.

He went on to explain that he has level two charging in his garage, so the rates were cheaper a lot of the time.

However, as many drivers know, the costs of an EV don’t just end with keeping it fully charged; maintenance is also a huge responsibility.

The EV owner said that there wasn’t really a lot of maintenance other than windshield washer fluid, alongside tire rotations, new tires, and air filters.

He also stated that the car would be expensive to repair if something were to go wrong, though, so owners should be prepared to fork out on costs.

“Overall review four months in, if I don’t really have hardly any problems for the next four to six years, car runs great over 100,000 miles, don’t have much going on, I will for sure probably always have a Tesla,” he concluded.

The money-saving claims caused a debate among other car lovers

After hearing the creator’s total savings, some owners decided to share their thoughts, and some couldn’t believe the savings and charging numbers.

“My suggestion. It’s a great daily, but I would never only have an EV without a gasser parked just in case,” commented one user.

“I have Model S with free supercharging for life. I don’t pay to charge,” he said.

“Saving $275 a month just on gas alone over last car – doesn’t include money spent on oil, etc.” said a third.

Other EV lovers have also shared their stories about the Tesla Model Y

For example, one man who’s driven 300,000 miles on his 2022 Tesla Model Y reveals the effect it had on the battery.

Plus, another man shared his thoughts on ‘impressive’ Full Self-Driving after using it in the new Tesla Model Y Juniper for 90 miles on Interstate 35.
