This Tesla owner sparked a massive debate after they revealed the reasons they ditched gas for an EV.
Automotive journalist Noah Washington shared his thoughts on his Tesla Model 3 in an article.
It was in the piece that Washington declared he’d been convinced to ‘ditch gas cars forever’.
It’s just the latest in a long-running saga of comparisons between gas cars and EVs.

This new Tesla Model 3 owner shared his thoughts on the gas vs EV debate
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade, you’ll know that electric vehicles have become increasingly popular.
And with that has come the inevitable comparisons.
Every car YouTuber worth their salt has compared EVs to gas cars at this point.

One man from Kentucky took to the internet to talk about how much money he’d saved after switching to a Tesla Model 3.
The Model Y has also been subjected to price comparisons.
With how fast things are developing in the car field, it won’t be long until EVs can be recharged as quickly as a gas car.
And it’s a good thing too – as charging stations in California outnumber the conventional pumps.
Journalist Nathan Washington is the latest to throw his two cents into the debate.
In an article for Torque News entitled ‘My Tesla Model 3 Convinced Me to Ditch Gas Cars Forever, And I’m Not The Only One’, he laid out his feelings on the EV.
It was his first time dipping his toe into the EV pool.
And the temperature was just right, clearly.
His piece also reflected on how quickly popular opinion can change.

“Five years ago, electric cars were little more than a novelty act.
“They were lab coats on wheels, curiosities built for eco-conscious early adopters, and the odd tech enthusiast willing to suffer for the cause.
“Today, that narrative has flipped on its head,” he wrote.
He cited Tesla and BYD as examples of titans within the market.
“The electric revolution is no longer coming, it’s here, and it’s rewriting the rules of what a car is supposed to be,” Washington said.

There was ‘a sense of liberation’ that came with EVs.
“Maintenance has become a footnote rather than a worry,” Washington wrote.
“In the age of one-pedal driving and overnight software updates, the old rituals of car ownership feel prehistoric.”

However, he wasn’t totally wedded to one brand and acknowledged that others were vying to be the top dog in the EV game.
“Tesla made electrons aspirational, but the real battle now lies in defining what the next generation of transportation means.
“Will it be Rivian’s rugged individualism, Lucid’s smooth sophistication, or BYD’s utilitarian pragmatism that carries the torch?
“One thing is certain. The internal combustion engine may not vanish overnight, but its reign is ending,” he said.

In the article’s comment section, people had their say.
While some sided with Washington’s assessment, others declared his article a ‘Tesla ad disguised as an article’.
It’s a debate that’s set to rumble on into the future.
