The Lamborghini Huracán is the Goliath of the half-mile drag race, but could a teeny-weeny-electric-bikini Tesla Plaid actually beat it in over the line?
That was the heavyweight bout pitted by YouTube group DragTimes, as they decided to push the Model S to its absolute limits.
But with 2000 horsepower under the hood of the Huracán, does the all-electric Plaid even stand a chance?
With a handicapped start, the half-mile drag race throws up some quite astounding results.

Could a Tesla Plaid actually beat a Lamborghini Huracán?
The Tesla Model S Plaid is up there as one of the quickest of the EVs around, maybe only bettered by a handful of race cars such as the Rimac Nevera and Aspark Owl.
But when staring down the barrel of a 5.2-liter V10 Huracán, most would assume it would be left in the dust.
Especially when the modified Lambo comes with a twin-turbo setup that ran a stunning 7.6 seconds in a quarter mile last year.
Still, the Plaid boasts a significant 1,000 horsepower itself. The tri-motor setup has already thrust this plucky Tesla ahead of a Dodge Hellcat in previous drag races and doesn’t fear many other cars in its sedan category.
The Tesla Plaid even holds speed records on the Autobahn, hitting the highest speed ever recorded in an EV.
This drag race isn’t quite even though, and the scales are tipped quite heavily in the favour of the Tesla. The Lambo won’t be launching from the start, whereas the Model S will be given the green light.
Tesla Plaid holds its own in drag race with Lamborghini Huracán
In the first race, the Plaid was caught with a matter of yards to the half-mile line, as the Lambo made its comeback look seamless. The green arrow scampered back at its prey, reaching an impressive 227 mph on its way to victory.
The Plaid held its own in the first heat, despite not getting the best of launches, completing the half-mile in Usain Bolt time at 9.6 seconds, reaching 184mph.
The second heat was much more favorable for the Tesla though, as it shot off the line and didn’t see taillights until well after the finishing line, actually beating the Lambo.
Yes, you read that right, the Tesla won! David toppled Goliath.
While the overall challenge was tied at 1-1, the Telsa Plaid can add the Lamborghini Huracán to its list of victories which already includes a supercharged Corvette ZR1.
