Tesla's Roadster reveal has been delayed again but not for one of the usual reasons

We’re going to have to wait even longer to find out more about the new Tesla Roadster.

After nine years, we had been preparing to watch the unveil on October 1, 2026.

However, Tesla has now confirmed that the event will have to be postponed.

But the reason is not what you think.

“It’s been 84 years…”

Remember the iconic line from Titanic? When the elderly Rose reflects on her memories of the sinking, she famously says it has been ’84 years’.

Now, people use it whenever something feels like it’s taking forever.

That’s pretty much how everyone feels about the Tesla Roadster.

First teased in 2017, it was supposed to be unveiled in 2020.

But between the pandemic and the company’s pivot toward AI and other products (Cybercab, Robotaxi, Optimus, Cybertruck), the launch keeps getting pushed back.

There’s another reason why it’s been delayed so many times

Back in 2018, rumors began spreading about a SpaceX collaboration, which were later confirmed by Musk himself.

Recently, engineers and executives revealed that technical difficulties integrating this SpaceX technology were a primary reason behind the delays.

If everything goes to plan, the Roadster will feature cold-gas thrusters that allow it to hover briefly and potentially reach 0–60 mph in under 1 second – a total game changer.

But we’re going to have to wait a little longer to find out.

Why the Roadster event was delayed again

The American manufacturer took to X to announce that the event will be pushed back two weeks to 15 October, due to concerns about… the weather.

“We’ve been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted and because this event can only be held outdoors, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule,” Tesla wrote on X.

The reveal event will take place in Waco, Texas, and this is crucial because everyone’s expecting Tesla to use the lake to showcase the car’s ability to hover or float across bodies of water.

The fact that it ‘can only be held outdoors’ says it all.
