Tesla has introduced a convenient new feature, which could make life a lot easier for EV drivers looking to top up at a Supercharger.

Tesla opened its first Supercharger station in California back in 2012 and has been rapidly rolling them out ever since

Today, there are around 7,900 stations, offering more than 75,000 connectors, across the globe.

Last month, it was announced that for the first time, live Supercharger information could be viewed in Google Maps

The Tesla holiday update comes with a new Supercharger feature

And now, Tesla has launched another very handy feature when it comes to finding a charging spot.

Currently, the Tesla app allows users to see how many of its stalls are free at any particular Supercharger site.

But at larger sites, this still involved a bit of hunting around to find the free spots.

However, the carmaker recently shared details of its annual holiday update, and it includes new Supercharger Site Maps.

The new feature will give users a 3D view of Supercharger stations when navigating to them or by hitting ‘View Site Map’.

The 3D map will then show exactly which stalls are in use and which are available, all in real time – taking all the guesswork out of finding a charging spot and making the whole process run a lot more smoothly.

The maps are currently being trialed at 18 Supercharger sites:

  • Alameda, CA
  • Austin, TX – Research Boulevard
  • Carlsbad, CA – Paseo Del Norte
  • Cupertino, CA – Stevens Creek Boulevard
  • Daly City, CA – Mission Street
  • Diamond Bar, CA
  • Firebaugh, CA
  • Fremont, CA – Pacific Commons Boulevard Ave
  • Harris Ranch, CA
  • Marin City, CA – Donahue Street
  • Menlo Park, CA
  • Mountain View, CA – Grant Road
  • San Bruno, CA – El Camino Real
  • San Bruno, CA – San Bruno Ave
  • San Carlos, CA
  • Santa Monica, CA
  • Union City, CA
  • Williams, CA – 6th Street

“This should make Supercharging a little more magical, especially at larger and busy sites,” Tesla’s director of charging North America, Max de Zegher, said in an X post

De Zegher also confirmed that it would be rolled out to all Superchargers in the future, and judging by the reaction from Tesla owners online, it seems like that can’t happen soon enough.

California has more EV charging connectors than gas nozzles

With more EVs on the road than ever before, charging stations are popping up across the United States at record levels.

Earlier this year, the Department of Energy released new data that showed EV charging infrastructure in the US has grown by 19 percent in the first nine months of 2025.

And in California, there are now more EV charger connectors than gas nozzles.
