Full Self-Driving is one of Tesla’s most popular features, but one creator decided to take things to new heights using it in an unusual setting.

Forget just driving to work, this EV fan gave FSD the task of delivering food and beverage orders during a DoorDash shift.

From parking to braking and icy roads, the Tesla had a lot to take into account.

Plus, with a snowstorm on the way and temperatures below zero, it was a race against time.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving: what you need to know

First released in 2020, Tesla’s FSD enables users to sit back and relax while their EV does all the hard work for them, with the driver keeping a watchful eye over the process.

According to Tesla itself, FSD is trained by ‘anonymous real-world driving data’ with drivers barely intervening with the process, thanks to the accuracy.

The mode enables tasks like changing lanes and steering to be automatically carried out and can be used for everything from road trips to grocery store runs.

So, in a bid to really see if FSD could cope with real life, YouTuber Drive Electric Today decided to use it to complete his DoorDash shift, but there was a catch.

Outside temperatures weren’t exactly ideal, with temperatures heading towards 13°F (around -10°C), and a snowstorm warning was issued while the content creator was on the road.

How did FSD really fare when attempting to DoorDash in a snowstorm?

The first task it had was to attend the first pickup location and park correctly. avoiding disability parking spots and mobile pickup spots with ease, before delivering.

Next, it was time to head to a Chinese restaurant, and thanks to the car already being in drive, there was no interaction needed, with the creator even using his voice to change his destination.

When a U-turn became necessary, Full Self-Driving took the long route instead of a shortcut to quickly turn the car around.

“Sometimes it chooses safety over speed,” explained the creator.

Due to the delivery location being a medical facility, the driver stuck with the FSD in parking lot mode, and it also parked and delivered easily.

The next order occurred when the outside temperature dropped by two degrees, and yet again, Full Self-Driving quite literally took the wheel.

This time, the destination was a vet hospital, so the parking lot feature continued to be engaged and parked up successfully, despite the 13°F outside temperature.

So far, so good, as despite some slightly wonky parking, the Tesla was completing DoorDash tasks with ease.

Soon after, the time came for the final order to be picked up after the YouTuber waited in a hub spot.

The stacked order meant that the Tesla needed to complete two drop-offs in close proximity, which could have posed a challenge.

This time, curbside mode was selected, and despite some ice on the road, everything continued to run smoothly.

After the DoorDash shift, the creator shared his stats, revealing a total earnings of $33, proving it was a success.

Seriously, what can’t FSD do?
