After making the step from diesel to gas by swapping a Ford F-250 for a Tesla Cybertruck, this Texas man shared his incredible savings after three months.
We know EVs are saving some people a small fortune.
But with some doubters still not convinced by the electric trucks, given range and efficiency differences, many have stayed loyal to their golden oldies.
One man in Texas has decided to make the switch, though, and three months down the line, he’s already recovered $1,000 in diesel savings.

Texas man shares huge savings after switching from F-250 to Cybertruck
Even though the Ford F-250 is an incredible piece of machinery, no matter the task at hand, its sustainability and efficiency have left people looking towards EV alternatives.
Its biggest rival is the Tesla Cybertruck, instantly being considered an equal opponent since it launched.
Since then, the Cybertruck has showcased just why people are making the switch. It’s even been called in to pull Ford trucks out of ditches – a real passing of the torch moment.
Yet the real selling point for the Cybertruck’s revolution is the EV charging costs.
One Texas man has now highlighted that selling point, explaining how his new Tesla saved him a thousand bucks in three months.

Taking to Facebook, Texas native Dick Pursley claimed he’d saved a grand on diesel by switching to the Cybertruck.
“I have had my Cybertruck AND Tesla Energy for my home for a little over three months now,” he explained.
“I have about 5,400 miles on my CT and have spent a TOTAL of $15.31 on electricity to charge my CT (this includes the $5/month fee for unlimited night charging).
“By comparison, the F-250 diesel I had before got an actual average mpg of around 16. Figuring $3/gallon of diesel (quite conservative), that same mileage would have cost a little over $1,000.00 for fuel,” he concluded.
It’s evident that the Texas man did most of his charging during the night, taking advantage of the free buffer. In addition, he rarely ran his battery flat in one day’s work.
A great ad for Tesla
Of course, all this positivity comes with some variables that have been tipped in his favor, too.
Texas is one of the states with the best EV infrastructure in the country, and even Tesla insurance. In addition, with some haggling, the new Cybertruck owner also got his Tesla Electric package at a discount.

Still, $15 for electricity compared to $1,000 for diesel is a feat that sets the Cybertruck far ahead of its competition.
Greener, cleaner, cheaper. It’s a good advert for Tesla.
In the Ford corner, though, diesel trucks stay clear of the Cybertruck when it comes to towing and other practical uses, giving its F-250 range some hope.
But given the F-150 has been blown off its perch as America’s best-selling car after 47 years, it’s clear to see that the times are changing.
