The Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR is known worldwide as one of the rarest and most desired supercars ever made.

Mercedes created it to dominate the FIA GT Championship in 1997, showing it off not just as a racer but also as a symbol of Mercedes’ top-notch engineering.

This car is proof that Mercedes-Benz had quite a journey in motorsport.

The automaker took a break after the 1955 Le Mans disaster.

However, it came back strong in 1985 — first as an engine supplier and then moving into touring car championships.

This paved the way for their venture into GT racing.

Then came the big achievement for the brand in 1997 – creating the CLK-GTR.

They pulled it off in just 128 days.

While the time needed to create this beast was short, it is still one of the brand’s most legendary cars.

Based on a modified McLaren F1 GTR chassis, it had a powerful M120 V12 engine that could pump out 600 horsepower.

It was an unbelievable force on the track, with a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h) and pulling off a 0-62 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

It was not just the racer variant that was special — the road version of the CLK-GTR was impressive, too.

It came with cool stuff like ABS, air-conditioning, and an audio system.

But here’s the catch — they didn’t make many of these road supercars, making them rare and sought after by collectors.

Over time, the CLK-GTR has found its way into the garages of car lovers and collectors.

One of those lucky collectors was the Indian Businessman Vijay Mallya, who is also known for owning the White House in the Sky.

The Sultan of Brunei initially booked the car but never took the delivery.

After that, Mallya grabbed this one-of-a-kind car.

From car fans to big-time collectors, everyone wants a piece of this automotive history.

In the world of luxury cars, the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR stands out like a diamond so rare and shiny that car lovers just can’t help but fall in love with it.
