This American car dealer decided he was going to set the record straight about Tesla because he believes that people ‘aren’t told the truth’ about the EVs.
The dealer comes from a perspective where he is completely neutral about Tesla and its EVs, but he thinks that it is important people know the full story before they buy one.
According to him, used Teslas are extremely affordable now, so it makes them great for buyers, but not great for people looking to resell.
The guy acknowledged that there are some really good pros and cons when it comes to Teslas. But he made a discovery that changed his whole perspective on the used EV market.

Sometimes, when you’re talking about EVs, it feels like the only brand that’s ever discussed is Tesla and how good or bad the cars are, depending on the day, time, and who you’re speaking to.
This American car dealer has over 80 used cars ready to sell, and two of them are Teslas. He has neither a particularly positive or negative opinion on them and sees himself as fairly neutral in the great debate.
Looking at different EV batteries, he made a discovery that changed his perspective when it comes to buying them second-hand.
He first acknowledged that the acceleration and torque of Teslas, particularly the Model S, are incredible; if you looked for comparable performances in gas cars, you would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars.
However, he pointed out that the EVs seem to have major build quality issues. They include misaligned doors, wind noise, peeling steering wheels, and broken plastic clips.
The Model 3, according to the dealer, has a poor ride quality. In fact, he compared it to riding in a ‘fast 2005 Kia Spectra’. The Model S, on the other hand, has a ride experience similar to a BMW.
The dealer acknowledged how convenient at-home charging is and said that he’s never had to use a public charging station.
Equally, though, he thinks that there aren’t enough Tesla service centers and they’re always too far away.

After checking dozens of VINS, the YouTuber revealed that he found that most used Teslas already had their batteries replaced, and he thinks that the batteries ‘are more of an issue than Tesla is letting us know.’
However, an EV that originally cost $120k costs just $20k used, so they’re incredibly good for buyers. But not a great investment for sellers.
So, according to him, they’re not the best EVs, and they’re not the worst.
The build and ride quality seem to massively differ between different Tesla models, and if you’re buying second-hand, the truth is, it may not come with its original battery.
