In a beautiful road trip through the glories of southern America, featuring ‘wild west’ pitstops for tacos and photoshoots in New Mexico and Arizona, this Porsche 911 Dakar stole the show.
America hides a lot of beauty in its southern border, with sunsets dropping over the canyons, casting a deep orange glow over the sandy terrain.
In a bid to uncover the secrets of these dusky, enchanting, and sculpted places, Porsche set out on a road trip of its own making.
Sitting behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 Dakar, the fabled manufacturer went from secluded creeks to movie sets, and the car was glowing at every turn.

Porsche 911 Dakar gets a road trip through southern America
The Porsche 911 Dakar is no stranger to road trips. It was specifically made as an off-road sports car specialist, excelling with sand between its alloys or snow falling on its roof.
Already, people have been running the Porsche 911 Dakar all over the world – one person in particular has notched up 20,000 miles in 75 days touring Vietnam, Laos, China, and more.
Now, Porsche itself has taken the car into its natural terrain in America, running it through New Mexico and Arizona.
Documented on YouTube, the road trip is a spectacle that celebrates everything special between this German sports car and the American atmosphere that adopted it with open arms.

With stops at Bonanza Creek Ranch (the set of Silverado, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, and A Million Ways to Die in the West), Hunts Mesa, Albuquerque, and Sedona, the Dakar was right at home.
Artist Sean Wotherspoon and professional mountain biker Heather Monbé put the car through its paces in unfamiliar ways – the latter got to grips with the electrifying car at an off-road circuit, claiming it was just as much of a natural as her dirt bike.
The documentary is part two of a series in which the Porsche 911 Dakar will honor all corners of the world’s rich culture, having previously been in Australia.
What is the perfect American road trip car?
Most people would immediately write off the 911 Dakar as a popular road trip car, and instantly connect the open skies to something like an open-bed Ford Ranger.
Or the Cybertruck, which has been tried and tested in a brutal and brilliant journey from Florida to the Arctic.
But comfort cars are becoming more popular for long-distance driving. Tesla fans have identified the Model S as the perfect cross-country ride, while others have done thousand-mile journeys in the comfort of a Lamborghini Revuelto – oh, to be rich.
But especially in the south, why not have a 911 Dakar?

Many people have tried to turn other cars into a Dakar, too.
If you want to take a Ferrari SF90 Stradale across the country, you might need to heed the advice of this Dakar-upped beast.
It’s safe to say that this off-roader is a dream for many, even those with more expensive supercars.
