This man just got behind the wheel of the fastest-accelerating EV in the world and filmed his reaction.

New EVs from companies like Tesla and Lucid are becoming increasingly popular due to their comfort and wild acceleration speeds.

But even the Lucid Air Sapphire and Tesla Model S Plaid – the top of the line from both brands – only hit 0-100km/h in around two seconds.

So, imagine being twice as fast as that… well, welcome to the ‘AMZ Mythen’ which puts both cars to shame.

Man films himself hitting 0-100km/h in AMZ Mythen EV

A group of university students may have just put Tesla to shame.

The Academic Motorsports Club Zurich created this magnificent beast that is Mythen, designed specifically to become the fastest-accelerating EV of all time.

Lo and behold, they did.

One content creator has now visited the Uni and filmed himself behind the wheel, and the car is truly wicked.

YouTube personality Tom Scott traveled to the AMZ club to test out the car and was left blown away.

The outstanding manufacturing sees the car generate tonnes of downforce with a range of fans, and combined with motors on each wheel that have more torque than a standard hatchback, the Mythen zips off the mark and hits the 100km/h mark almost instantly.

In the test drive, Scott piloted the car at a heavier weight than the ‘lightweight’ person who drove the world record launch, but still managed to his 100km/h in 1.4 seconds.

“That was the longest second of my life,” Scott said.

It’s half a second slower than the record, but still frightening to watch – never mind drive.

The fastest-accelerating EV records

Currently, the Mythen is the fastest accelerating EV ever made, but it’s not road legal.

That record goes to the McMurtry Spierling, which Alex Hirschi – AKA Supercar Blondie – tested out in 2023.

The Rimac Nevera also deserves credit in the fastest accelerating EV records conversation

While it may not be quite as speedy off the mark, it holds nearly every other rolling-start gold medal.

Students or not, the AMZ Mythen is an incredible manufacturing job worth its worldwide praise, and it may be a long time before that record is beaten.

Although the Tesla Roadster 2.0 will try.
