He’s accumulated a following there, where he’s often asked about how much he earns per year.

In one video, he opened up about his salary – and let’s just say this may be a good way to get people into the trucking industry.

How much this truck driver earns per year

There are a lot of truck drivers working in the world today.

In the US, approximately 3.6 million people work in the industry, according to the Driver Resource Center.

In fact, the job is the most popular profession in 29 states.

And it’s not just in the States that this job has proven to be popular – there are 300,000 people working as truckers in the UK.

One such truck driver is Ashley Hale, who makes YouTube videos about his job on the road.

He’s frequently asked about how much money he makes, and he decides to divulge the details.

He opted to use a payslip from a previous job.

He didn’t want to ruffle any feathers with his current employers, which is understandable.

For a 45-hour work week, he would make $852 (£625).

That would average out at $44,000 (£32,500) a year, below the average salary of $65,470 reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

However, perks bumped up his pay to $70,951.

Speaking to his viewers, he said that overtime was paid at double the standard rate, which was an estimated additional $356 per week.

He also received a weekly bonus of $8 for working ‘unsociable hours’.

And if he met targets, he’d receive an additional $54.

Think that all sounds good?

Well, he also gets $136 for a ‘night-out’ allowance to reimburse him for any accommodation or meals when he is working a night shift.

It’s always cool to get an insight into how much people earn in different lines of work.

One guy makes a six-figure salary drawing 5-meter lines on Rolls-Royces, whilst Netflix was offering a $900,000 salary for an AI expert back in 2023.

But lest we forget, taxes are a thing.

As Benjamin Franklin once said, they are inevitable (so is death, but that’s a bit of a downer).

In some areas, you’ll keep less of your earnings than you may want.

In California, you’d be surprised how much gets taken out of a $1.5 million salary due to their high tax rates.
