A TikTok posted by Clearview Driving has the internet confused after it showed an instructor telling a learner driver to run a red light on purpose.
In the clip, Erin is mid-driving lesson in the UK when she spots a glaring red signal and begins to slow down. Her instructor immediately tells her, ‘keep going, keep going,’ which prompts her very reasonable reply: “But it’s a red light.” However the instructor explains the light isn’t meant for them.
This is a ‘repeater’ light, aimed at cars still on the main road, not for vehicles already mid-turn. Stopping there could’ve blocked the junction and risked a collision with cars behind, which is why Erin was urged to keep moving.
Still, the 19-million-view clip has drivers debating in the comments, with many admitting they’d have hit the brakes too.
