The owner of the UK’s first Tesla Cybertruck claims authorities want to seize it.

The Cybertruck is currently deemed illegal in the UK because Tesla hasn’t adapted it to suit British roads, so it’s not a huge surprise this owner is having issues with it.

He’s been stopped by authorities before who have told him he shouldn’t be driving it on British roads, but up until now, he’s managed to keep it in his possession.

But now the challenges appear to be stacking up against him.

What it’s like owning the UK’s first ever Tesla Cybertruck

It might seem like an interesting decision to own a car you can’t legally drive in your country, but for this British YouTuber, owning a Tesla Cybertruck brings him a huge amount of joy.

He also admitted he quite liked the attention he got from people when he took the EV out on the road.

The YouTuber, known as Yiannimize has owned his Cybertruck since early 2024 and has since been pulled over by the police more than once.

In the UK, you’re not allowed to drive the Tesla truck due to the design of the EV.

Its sharp and angular body doesn’t meet UK/EU pedestrian safety requirements, and there is also an issue with the electrical steer-by-wire system.

UK law also requires wing mirrors and the Tesla Cybertruck relies primarily on cameras, making it a less-than-ideal vehicle for British roads.

What’s he going to do about it

Even politicians are jumping on the bandwagon, with the UK’s Caroline Russell calling for the truck to be seized.

Despite all the backlash, the YouTuber is lobbying for the Tesla Cybertruck to be made legal in the UK.

And unsurprisingly, reactions have been mixed.

“Some people love the fact that I’m trying to get this registered,” he said.

“Other people are like ‘no, no, no, do not drive that Cybertruck!’”
