Unbelievable footage shows Airbus A340 pilot landing plane in Antarctica for historic first

Incredible footage of an Airbus A340 plane landing in Antarctica shows just how breathtaking the pilot’s touchdown really was.

The giant Airbus A340 made history as one of the largest planes to make the five-hour journey to Antarctica, touching down on the remote landing strip made purely of ice.

The landing by Captain Carlos Mirpuri was so impressive for a couple of reasons, not least because the area is so remote that the pilot loses all communication for hundreds of miles.

You can watch the incredible footage, caught by Hi Fly Airline, in the video at the top of the page.
