Down in the depths of Indiana, a classic engine is lying underneath an unrestored Mercury Monterey for a steal.
The 1964 Mercury Monterey has been kept by the same family for a number of years, but the chance to snap it up could now be yours.
With features including an automatic transmission, the car is unrestored and has clearly been very well kept while in the family’s care.
Wth 61 years of automotive history behind it, the 1964 model has served its owner well, but it has more life left to give to one lucky owner.

Keeping this Mercury Monterey was a real family affair
When it comes to some cars, certain gearheads tend to keep the history surrounding the vehicle alive by ensuring that it stays within the family.
One special Mercury is an example of this, as it actually stayed with one family for many decades.
“This 1964 Mercury Monterey was purchased new from my great uncle,” explained the seller in the eBay listing.
The seller went on to explain that it was passed on 20 years ago, but it’s now time for it to find a new loving home.
“I have cherished it since I was a kid, but it’s time to part with it,” continued the listing.

As you can imagine, since the car was produced all the way back in 1964, there may be some things that need a look over, with some paint ‘blemishes’ having been touched up and rendered.
There are also some elements of rust and a tear in the front seat, and even though the air conditioning works, it should be noted that it hasn’t been changed in over two decades.
The good news, though?
The current owner explained that ‘it starts every time’ thanks to them taking it for a spin locally.

The star of the show is clearly the 390ci V8 engine, which has been successfully kept in order by the family for many years.
The 1964 Monterey had a distinct design for its time, too.
“This model stood out for its unique rear window design and helped pave the way for future innovations in vehicle comfort and convenience,” explained Metro Moulded Parts.
At the time of writing, the bid on the listing was $8,500, but the car is set to end its time on eBay on October 13th.
Other V8s have also set out to impress car enthusiasts
The engine is the car’s clear powerhouse, and the V8 is an option that many car manufacturers choose to put under the hood.
In fact, one man loved the engine type so much that he imported a Jaguar XJ Super V8 from Japan, and the unique history left the car with a very impressive spec.
Plus, for fans of pure speed and muscle, Dodge just hinted that the V8 isn’t dead and it may be coming back louder than ever.
