US man who bought a used Tesla Model 3 Performance for $40,000 admits 'now I get it' as he gets honest after 7 months of ownership

This guy in the US bought a used Tesla Model 3 Performance and, after seven months, he said he’s finally getting it.

And when he said ‘now I get it’ he was referring to a very specific thing.

The thing is, most Teslas share a few pros and one giant con.

And he sort of bypassed that con.

There are a few reasons why he loves his Tesla

The Tesla Model 3 Performance doesn’t look like a performance car, but it is.

It does 0-60 in around 3 seconds, which is supercar territory.

His Tesla is also fitted with FSD – Full Self-Driving – which in his view is absolutely worth the monthly cost of $100.

“You don’t realize how useful it is until you actually have it,” he said in the video.

His Tesla is also quite cheap to run.

Relying entirely on a basic Tesla Mobile Connector plugged into a standard garage outlet, he can cover his 15-mile daily commute without paying $800–$1,500 for the dedicated home charger.

Even using Superchargers, his Model 3 is still cheaper to run than an equivalent Toyota Camry.

Based on the math he did, he would end up paying between $22 and $25 for 300 miles of range using Tesla Superchargers.

Covering the same distance with a Camry would cost around $40.

This is why he said ‘now I get it’

His entire opinion – and actually the title of the video he posted – revolves around a simple sentence.

“Now I get it,” the title reads.

And there are actually two reasons why this YouTuber – he goes by Diego James – said that now he’s getting it.

First, after driving his Tesla for seven months, he’s finally realized why some people are obsessed with these cars, and why it’s one of the best-selling EVs in the world.

But the second reason is perhaps even more important.

He realized that buying a slightly older model for $40,000 completely bypasses the main downside of EVs – depreciation – while giving you a car that feels brand new.
