A Utah YouTuber bought the cheapest plane on Facebook Marketplace and was then stunned after he turned up to look at it.
The HeavyDSparks team secretly bought the cheap plane without telling him as a surprise, before they went to look at it and see just what it was like.
As the cheapest plane you could buy from Facebook Marketplace, you expect it to be riddled with issues and problems.
Incredibly, however, when they inspected the airplane, the YouTuber and his team were quite amazed by what they found.

The condition of the cheapest plane on Facebook Marketplace
The aircraft in question was a Pitts Special S1-C, a small aerobatic biplane.
These once dominated the world aerobatic competition scene, and they are still popular today.
Additionally, being a biplane, with a wing on top and one at the bottom, they have a distinctly retro look.
The first S1-C took to the skies in 1944, with others in the range doing so in 1945.
Amazingly, the HeavyDSparks team paid just $3,000 for the aircraft, and it came with a recently overhauled engine.

Under the hood is a Lycoming O-290 engine, and the YouTuber had a fully airworthy example.
Other Lycoming engines have also been used in Pitts aircraft.
After initial trepidation, the YouTuber was actually quite excited by what his team had bought.
The Pitts weighs just 1,100lbs in total, so it is remarkably light.
What lies ahead for the Pitts Special
The idea is to get the aircraft fully assembled again and then sell it for a profit.
HeavyDSparks won’t fly it, but he was quite excited by the purchase of the biplane.
Being an aerobatic aircraft too, it means anyone who buys it can have a lot of fun with it.
This particular Pitts was actually bought by its previous owner as a kit.
While they can be bought as a complete aircraft, many people like to build them up themselves.
The YouTuber’s team was able to get the engine on the aircraft firing.
That was impressive, as the Pitts had not fired up since 2018 when the engine was overhauled.
With such a small purchase price, making a profit on this little biplane could be a very sweet and easy deal.
