A Woman has gone viral on TikTok for warning drivers to ‘never’ buy a Tesla due to the hours she spent eating takeout at charging locations thanks to a home kit mishap.

Tesla very much leads the way in EV charging infrastructure throughout the United States.

But there’s still a long, long way to go before EVs are fully supported, especially when it comes to home charging.

One woman has now urged prospective buyers to think twice about buying a Tesla, as her expensive home charger kit was left behind when she moved to a city apartment, leaving only public kits available.

Tesla owner goes viral on TikTok for charging rant

Having a home charger kit is a lifesaver for all EV owners, significantly lowering running costs and reducing time spent at gas stations.

However, the kits can cost quite a lot of money to install. Plus depending on where you live, not everyone has access to them.

This leaves some people being forced to visit Superchargers, racking up higher bills and wasting time.

One TikTok creator, ‘priii.priii‘ – or Priscilla – has now relayed that same message in a viral video.

In it, she urges people to ‘never’ buy a Tesla. Mostly thanks to the cost of moving a home charger kit and wasting hours eating take-out while using public Superchargers.

“We spend so much time at the charger eating in the car while it charges.,” she said in a video that now has around 50,000 views.

“We spent hundreds of dollars installing the charger at the house. But we moved, so we had to leave the charger.

“Now we live in an apartment and we have to charge the car every two days, just so it can be parked,” she explained.

Tesla’s Sentry mode is a double-edged sword for city-dwellers

The owner revealed that she uses the Sentry mode at all times for security, given that the car is parked in a busy place near her apartment.

This depreciates the battery consistently, being active at all times.

And given that Tesla cars should scarcely dip below 20 percent and above 80 percent charge, that means she needs to visit public chargers twice a day.

“Let this be a reason to never buy a Tesla,” she added.

However, this isn’t necessarily just a dig at Tesla, as all EVs come with a similar issue.

Many TikTok users defended the brand.

“Well, you shouldn’t buy an EV car until you own a home,” with one popular comment read.

“Don’t get a car you can’t afford,” another added.

That said, the public Superchargers have been well-received, with charging times that greatly surpass the general EV.

But not having access to a home charger kit is the biggest hindrance for most Tesla owners.
