The 250mph top speed record could be broken in the near future to celebrate America's 250th birthday, and it's being tackled in style.
Down in the state of Virginia, the record is being attempted by one inspiring engineer, who has become a dab hand at smashing records over the last decade.
Donning a body that can be likened to a NASCAR, the car and its engineers have big hopes and dreams for the vehicle.
Now, though, it's all about celebrating the US in all its glory as the anniversary of its independence nears.

250mph could be no problem for this NASCAR-inspired build
In the car world, breaking records is every gearhead's wildest dream, and for one engineer, this isn't his first rodeo.

Joey Arrington, who runs Arrington Engines, previously shot into the spotlight in 2007 after putting together the engine that achieved a record of 244.9mph.
Now, though, his expertise is back and better than ever, with a new car that has been built in the state of Virginia.
“It’s a little retro, just like 1776, and a little new, like 2026,” said Joey Arrington.

“I can’t even begin to express how exciting it is.
“It makes my hair stand up when we get talking about this stuff," he told reporters at WFXR News.
Plus, to add to the fun and excitement, it is set to be captured by a helicopter as well as cameras inside the car itself as it takes to a three-mile stretch of runway.
But, when is the new top speed record attempt actually taking place?
Well, according to the news site, it was due to take place on Friday, 2nd January 2026.
However, after speaking with the team, it was confirmed that the attempt to break the record was a bust, as the wind tunnel was not accessible.
The record is still firmly in the sights of all involved, and the car will still attempt to break the top speed record sometime between the Super Bowl and Daytona 500, so there won't be long to wait.
Driven by NASCAR champion Peyton Sellers, it will take place in Florida, with many eagerly awaiting the results.
So, keep your eyes peeled for the new top speed record attempt hitting the headlines in the coming weeks.
