That exciting Waymo spotting moment happened right outside the Supercar Blondie office in London, and it genuinely stopped us in our tracks.

Parked along a typical London street, right opposite a bright red pizzeria storefront, was a white Jaguar I-PACE covered in sensors and quietly gathering data.

It looked like any other car at first glance, until you clock the spinning lidar unit on the roof and the extra pods mounted along the sides.

Suddenly, a normal London commute felt like a glimpse into the future.

We spotted a Waymo mapping the London streets

The car came from the future itself and had ‘Waymo‘ printed clearly along the side, making it obvious this wasn’t just a test vehicle hidden in plain sight.

The white Jaguar I-PACE was right there on a busy London road, blending into traffic but also standing out with its huge LIDAR stack.

A Reddit thread found others like us across London who had spotted similar vehicles in boroughs like Greenwich, all part of Waymo’s ongoing mapping and testing phase.

These Jaguars are currently learning the city, taking in everything from tight urban streets to unpredictable pedestrian crossings and classic London traffic chaos.

Seeing it in real life hits differently, though.

The sleek white body, black wheels, and that unmistakable sensor stack on top made it feel like something straight out of a sci-fi film, except it’s parked next to a pizza place and our office.

The future suddenly feels much closer than expected

Right now, these Waymo vehicles are still in the data collection stage, with humans on board while the system learns.

But the end goal is clear: fully autonomous ride-hailing in cities like London.

And that is what makes this sighting so exciting.

It’s not some distant concept being tested in a closed environment; it’s happening on real streets, outside real workplaces, surrounded by everyday life.
