WhistlinDiesel tested the durability of a car bubble that surrounded his $400,000 Ferrari, and it put up an impressive performance.

When we say he threw everything but the kitchen sink at this thing, we mean it.

There was no shortage of items being hurled at the car bubble.

Bubbles may not be stereotypically linked to strength and resilience, but maybe it’s time we rethink that.

WhistlinDiesel surrounded his $400,000 Ferrari with a car bubble and threw stuff at it

The car in question was a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo, purchased for $400,000 with around 3,000 miles on the clock.

Cody Detwiler, known online as WhistlinDiesel, wanted to push it to its absolute limits.

You may recall that he eventually ended up getting arrested for destroying this car, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

Essentially, Detwiler was looking to destroy the car, but he was going to play around with it first.

One of the ways he decided to play was by encasing the Ferrari inside a ‘Car Caspule’, AKA a big bubble, and throwing stuff at it.

And we’re not talking about flicking quarters at it.

Oh no, he practically emptied out his entire utility closet to test this bubble.

Ladders of all sizes were thrown onto it, but they all bounced off effortlessly.

Next up, he bombarded the bubble with a whole variety of tools, including but not limited to – hammers, buckets, tires, and gas cannisters.

But the car capsule stood firm and kept the Ferrari safe.

The ultimate fate of this F8 Tributo wasn’t pretty

While the bubble kept the F8 Tributo safe within the confines of Detwiler’s warehouse studio, the Ferrari wasn’t in the clear yet.

In an upload to his channel in August 2023, the YouTuber took it out to a dry crop field before burning it up and creating so much heat that the grass caught fire and engulfed the car.

As a result, he ended up being arrested in November 2025, accused of trying to evade sales tax on the car.

Court document issued at the time read:

“Cody Shane Detwiler, heretofore, to-wit, on or about January 30, 2023 before the finding of this presentment in said County and State, did unlawfully and willfully attempt in any manner to evade or defeat any tax due the State of Tennessee in an amount of five hundred dollars ($500) or more, to-wit sales tax due on the purchase of a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo, in violation of Tennessee Cody Annotated 67-1-1440(g), a Class E Felony, and abasing the peace and dignity of the state of Tennessee.”

Detwiler argued that he’d registered the car in Montana – where no sales tax is collected on vehicles.

In Tennessee, there is a 7 percent sales tax – and a local sales tax in Williamson of 2.75 percent on top of that.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Should Detwiler be found guilty, he would face one to six years in prison and a maximum fine of $3,000, Daily Mail reported.
